CONTROL THE SALE OF SMUGGLED CONTRABAND CIGARETTES

For some time now, we have been noticing with concern about the substantial growth of availability of smuggled contraband cigarettes in the state of which do not bear the specified health warnings which are mandated by the tobacco control laws namely, the Cigarette and other tobacco products (prohibition of advertisement and regulation of trade and commerce, production, supply and distribution) Act, 2003 known as COTPA. As per section 7 of COTPA (relevant page of COTPA is enclosed) all tobacco products must bear the specified warnings. Further as per GSR 331 (E) dated 3rd . April 2018 (relevant page of GSR 331 enclosed), all specified warnings including pictures must occupy 85% of surface area of both sides of cigarette and also on other tobacco products……
